 What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme NDIS

Q: What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)? 

The NDIS is a new way of providing funding and support for (eligible) people with a disability. Designed to provide greater choice, independence and control, funding is allocated (based on an assessment) to individuals.

Q: When will the NDIS be available?

 

The NDIS will be rolled out in phases across the country. The exact timing will depend on your state, location and age.

Q: Who can access the National Disability Insurance Scheme?

 

Eligible NDIS participants will need to:
· Live in a region where the NDIS is available;
· Meet the age and residency requirements; and
· Meet either the disability or early intervention requirements.

Q: How can I access support under the NDIS?

To become a NDIS participant you will need to complete an Access Request Form. The Access Request Form is available by contacting the NDIS.
